the other side of the rainbow

So I started my job at the motorcycle shop today, and holy shit, wow. After sitting in an office for a couple hours getting briefed on what happens at the shop, the head mechanic comes in and informs us that a ducati desmosedici rr (D16RR) has just been delivered. This motorcycle is about as race replica as it gets, sharing most of its design and components with the motogp bike that was raced last year. It only costs a cool $72,500. (to emphasize, that is seventy two thousand, five hundred dollars!) Limited production, all are sold. With 1500 produced, $108,750,000 in retardedly expensive and impractical motorcycles were sold with no stress.
Meanwhile, guess what pulls up in the parking lot? Another D16RR! Only this one is red w/o the white side panels. Some old ass guy just brought it 'round to show it off... he was there for 3 hours. I've never heard/seen anything like it. All of the fairings are carbon fiber. Red paint on the outside, beautiful carbon weave on the inside. Craziness. So what could top the desmosedici double whammy? Having the head mechanic discover that both of the wheels on the crated bike were damaged. (and yes, that is a metal crate it shipped in) So this is where it gets real.....that wheel set costs $22,000!! WHAT THE FUCK! The last wheel set I witnessed that was damaged in transit (at the good 'ol cambridge bicycle shop) was probably 200 bucks.
I'm still having trouble digesting this.
