mont clair is rich

I spent three days helping Brad install some stainless gutters on a building owned by Karl Kardel, the company he works with. By coincidence, about four years ago I found a framed card at a thrift store featuring their distinct bee company logo which was commissioned by David Lance Goines in the 70's. I have been in love with this image for years now, so I found it extraordinary to be earning day labor wages paid by the same man who had paid for such a great logo. Good taste? (Kardel is also a Dane.) It was nice to spend a few days soaking up the sun, debating what we're doing with our lives, and getting a taste of the trades.

Yesterday I rode out to Hayward where I picked up a third (black and sans holes) pelican case from a lady named Linda via craigslist. This will serve as my top case, in place of the JC whitney special that I have been rocking around town. There are bay area dual-sporters heading to Death Valley this weekend for a rally... maybe I can hang? I would have to do my first tune up which involves a valve adjustment, get a rollchart holder, and get my long overdue plates. I could use a better set of boots.

Jax had a surprise birthday party thrown for her at Dolores park on Saturday, and the weather couldn't have been better. There were turntables set up on one end of the park, a laptop and PA setup at the other, with tons of burningman types dancing. The grass slopes were packed with people on blankets enjoying the sunshine. So good to see!

These days I'm spending at least an hour minimum at advrider.com just reading. Is that insane? Or do you spend hours each day doing the same type of thing? Sometimes I find shit like these two:

(look how insanely large the tank is on the red bmw)
