Today I went on a road ride with Lisa who is my temporary downstairs neighbor and is super chill. She showed me a loop through the Oakland hills and it was beautiful. You get to ride through redwoods and the roads were covered with eucalyptus bark. Eucalyptus isn't native and is considered the most invasive species in california, btw. I also scored a silver id bracelet at community thrift for 50% off, which they do the first monday of every month. I've been searching for one for a while, so I feel like I was being rewarded for my hard work.

Yesterday we went to check out the Alameda swap meet which is supposed to be super large. We got lost and distracted on the navel base and stopped at a storage unit dead stock sale instead. I walked away with two trunks, a silver bread box, and a skinny embroidered tie with matching kerchief. The real treasure was in one of the trunks which was full of a deceased man's random possessions. His name was Bishop Giles and in his trunk I found two Reggie Jackson for president buttons, a bullet, a handbook for those suffering from exposure to agent orange, his army discharge papers, and about 50 photographs which were taken in the early 70's. Among these are two naked full-figured women (pics soon to come), and many shots of the kitchens and food spreads that he had cooked up in his years of service.
For some reason all of us passed on the fantasy metal clock which had dragons and warriors and shit painted on lacquered wood, like the ones you see at the fair. There were a couple beautiful mt.bike relics from the early 90's. One was something titanium with white industries hubs, cook bros cranks w/ti rings, rock shox fork w/carbon stanchions, ringle skewers, and xt. It came with a nuke proof wheelset as well. This also got passed on.

We ate at lois the pie queen which was tasty and had amazing service. One of the dudes working there named Chris wanted the entire room to sing him happy birthday and everyone obliged. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the mood for a breakfast with good biscuits. Later on I continued organizing my mp3s for another few hours and watched "for your consideration." Which I liked least of the Christopher Guest films I have seen. How exciting!
